Flowers and the landscape are central subjects in my work — I just can’t shake being awe-struck and endlessly inspired by nature. Observation, expressive mark-making, and play are important to my process. As one of my largest paintings, I made leaps and bounds forward in this piece as I moved around the canvas. The challenge was to find a balance between the large sweeping marks to fill the size, while also adding detail interesting enough to examine up close.
